Welcome to the Tierly Blog: Your Guide to Smarter SaaS Pricing
We're launching the Tierly blog to help SaaS founders and product teams master competitive pricing with data-driven insights and actionable strategies.

We built Tierly because we saw too many SaaS founders guessing at their pricing. They'd pick a number, copy a competitor, or just hope for the best. Then they'd wonder why conversions stayed flat.
That's why we're launching this blog. Not another content marketing exercise, but a practical resource for SaaS founders, product managers, and pricing teams who want to get pricing right.
What You'll Find Here
We're building six content pillars, each designed to solve a specific pricing challenge:
✦ Pricing Intelligence Deep-Dives
Understanding how to gather, analyze, and act on competitor pricing data. We'll cover tools, methods, and frameworks for building a pricing intelligence system that actually works.
✦ SaaS Pricing Teardowns
Real analysis of real companies. We'll break down how Notion, HubSpot, Slack, and dozens of other SaaS products structure their pricing tiers. You'll see what works, what doesn't, and why.
✦ How-To Pricing Guides
Step-by-step guides for common pricing challenges: How to price API access. How to structure per-seat vs. usage-based models. How to set enterprise pricing without leaving money on the table.
✦ Competitive Analysis Frameworks
Templates and methods for systematic competitor research. We'll share the exact frameworks we use at Tierly to analyze pricing landscapes.
✦ Industry Benchmarks
Data on what companies in your space actually charge. CRM software, project management tools, marketing automation. Real numbers you can use to calibrate your own pricing.
✦ Pricing Strategy Fundamentals
Value-based pricing. Freemium vs. free trial. Price anchoring. Good-better-best models. The psychological and strategic foundations that separate mediocre pricing from great pricing.
Why Pricing Content Matters Now
SaaS pricing has gotten harder. Markets are more crowded. Buyers are more informed. The old playbook of "charge what competitors charge" doesn't cut it anymore.
Pricing is the most impactful growth lever for SaaS companies, yet it's the most neglected. A 1% improvement in pricing yields an 11% improvement in profits.
Here's what we've observed working with SaaS teams:
☒ Most founders set pricing once and forget it. They pick a number at launch, maybe adjust it once, then leave it alone for years. Meanwhile, the market shifts, competitors evolve, and that original price becomes increasingly wrong.
☒ Competitive analysis is usually a one-time exercise. Teams might research competitors before launch, but rarely build systems to track pricing changes over time. They miss when competitors add tiers, adjust features, or shift positioning.
☒ Pricing decisions happen in a data vacuum. Without good competitive intelligence, pricing becomes a mix of gut feel and internal debates. Neither tends to produce optimal outcomes.
This blog exists to change that. Every post aims to give you something concrete: a framework, a teardown, a benchmark, or a strategy you can apply to your own business.
What Makes Our Approach Different
We don't believe in generic pricing advice. "Charge more" isn't a strategy. "Test your pricing" isn't a plan. So, every piece of content we publish will be:
⦿ Specific. Real numbers. Real companies. Real examples. We'll show you exactly how Notion structures its tiers, not vague platitudes about "value-based pricing."
⦿ Actionable. Each post ends with something you can do. A framework to apply. A question to answer. A change to test.
⦿ Data-driven. We use Tierly's AI analysis to gather actual pricing data. When we say a company offers X features at Y price point, we've verified it.
